Residing within the wildland urban interface (WUI), CKFD finds it extremely important to not only train our staff members to current standards and practices within the wildland firefighting community, but to also participate in the aid of those in need across the Nation. Currently, all of our career members are certified to fight fires on both fronts. In this aspect, one of our members is a certified engine boss as per NWCG (The National Wildfire Coordinating Group). It is our hope to have two more of our full time staff to be certified to the same level within the upcoming year. Nearly every apparatus within CKFD meets both structural and wildland firefighting standards, providing the district with the ability to serve not only our very own area but nation wide as well.
